Most manufacturers and wholesalers we work with find new trade buyers through three channels together: a targeted list of named buyers contacted by cold email and LinkedIn, search ads on high-intent product and part terms, and a website that answers the questions buyers ask before requesting a quote. Outbound brings meetings fastest, usually within the first month of sending.

Who should you target?

Define the buyer first: job titles such as procurement manager, category buyer or operations director, company types, sizes and regions. A list of 2,000 well-chosen contacts beats 20,000 scraped ones.

What should the emails say?

Short, specific and about the buyer: what you make, who you already supply, and one reason to switch, such as lead time, minimum order quantity or price stability. Ask for a short call or offer samples. Three to four follow-ups over two to three weeks is enough.

Yes, with rules. Under UK PECR, you can email corporate subscribers, such as limited companies and LLPs, without prior consent if you identify yourself and include an easy opt-out; sole traders and partnerships need consent. In the US, CAN-SPAM requires accurate sender details and subject lines, a valid postal address and opt-outs honored within 10 business days. Penalties can exceed $50,000 per non-compliant email.

What about trade shows and directories?

They still work, especially when combined with outbound: email your target list before the show to book meetings at your stand. In the US, industrial buyers also search directories such as Thomasnet, so a complete profile there is worth having.

How many meetings should you expect?

It depends on the market and offer, so we don’t promise a number before the audit. For Cresswell Packaging, a packaging manufacturer, a verified list of 2,800 buyers produced 46 qualified meetings and 5 new distributors in 4 months, with 96% inbox placement.
